Time: 2350 for approx 2-3 minutes.
Number of witnesses: 1
Number of objects: 5
Shape of objects: Round.
Weather Conditions: Cold -3, clear sky, surroundings lit by moonlight.
Description: While driving on the M50 south bound first saw a red light transit low from right to left at a very fast speed, far greater than even military jets, then whilst passing Ross-on-Wye on the A40 there were 5 red/orange lights that were moving amongst each other between the 2 hills, very maneuverable and in close proximity to each other. The 5 lights then lined up in an almost perfect vertical line before the 3 smaller lights headed away while the other 2 larger lights remained for a further 2 minutes before also heading away from where I had stopped my car.
Further down the A40 just before the roundabout exit to Monmouth I saw a further red light flash across the sky from right to left.
Do you have any ideas what these lights could have been? My only guess would possibly be microlights or hand gliders between the two hills but at that time of night?? And as for the 2 fast red lights, shooting stars?
