Hey, my name is (name removed) and I also saw what looked like a shooting star last night 03/03/12. I live in Livingston, Scotland. It was a lovely thing to see. It looked like a ball of fire with different colours coming from it, and it had a massive big line of what looked like dust coming from it.
I wish I had time to take a picture. I thought it was a big bright shooting star, but it seemed to last longer than a normal shooting star. I got to watch it for at least 40 seconds and then it vanished into the sky.
It seemed quite low in the sky. Do you know what it was?

The same exact thing just happened to me. Around 8 am, pacific time, Northern California, a ball of fire with multi colors came shooting down between my house and a neighbors. The ball of fire stopped seconds before hitting the tree and disappeared into thin air. I thought it was a shooting star too, until reading this post. Donyale
