Grantham, Lincolnshire, England A Large Glowing Ball

Posted: December 30, 2007

Date: 1978 Time: 10:00 p.m.

It was in 1978 over Grantham in Lincolnshire, England. At approximately 10:00 p.m. myself and 3 other friends witnessed a large glowing ball moving at high speed across the sky. Judging from the time it took to go from one end of the sky to the other, it was moving at supersonic speeds (we were in the RAF at the time and were easily able to tell that it was moving with very high velocity). The object itself was circular, red and looked like it was on fire. It was also trailing beautiful golden sparks and looked like the best firework I had seen. It was not a meteor as the trajectory was all wrong (again as we ere in the RAF at the time we knew that this was so). I went to the guard room to report the incident and was told - and I quote "Ignore it there was nothing there". The following day there were a number of newspaper reports backing up the sighting that had been witnessed from Wales to Northern England.

Thank you to the witness for the report.
