Glebe Sydney, Australia A Little Dark Spherical Object Close To Jet

Full Description of event/sighting: I was out walking with my girlfriend at 8:20pm, as the sun was setting (it's summer and daylight savings here). The noise of a jet drew my girlfriends attention upwards. She then indicated I should look up, and pointed to a little dark spherical object travelling from the north to the south west to the left of us (we were facing north). My first thought was it was the source of the jet noise, but as I watched it I realized it couldn't be as it seemed too spherical and with no attachments of any kind it looked nothing like any plane (or helicopter for that matter) I've ever seen, though it was moving in much the same way as one. Then my girlfriend rightly pointed out that the source of the jet noise was in fact a 747 travelling from the south, almost perpendicular to the dot, and their paths soon crossed. This took about 5-10 seconds to happen, and the dot was travelling much faster, and crossed in front of, the 747, giving us an idea of speed and size.

As the sphere came closer (and the jet further away), it turned out to indeed be a perfect sphere, moving very fast in a completely straight line toward the south, overhead and to the west of us. We observed it travelling this way, and followed it on foot down the road to get a better vantage point, for about 1-2 minutes before it became too small to track and we lost sight of it behind trees/houses etc.

With reference to the 747 that crossed nearby, it was moving significantly faster than the jet - maybe 50%-100% faster.

We estimate the size of the sphere to have been anywhere from meter to a few meters across. It crossed in front of the jet, so we have a vague idea of size from that as well as just a general feeling given its relative size during approach and traverse.

My girlfriend says it looked reddish to her, it could well have been but my eyes didn't pick up on it - our view was very contrasted given the time of day. It didn't seem to be making any noise.
