Weather Conditions: A very clear night.
Description: Walking up Nutclough towards the Keighley road, we met our neighbours who were watching a round, bright red light hovering then moving erratically above, at a similar height to a normal plane. This was definitely not an aircraft, as we could clearly see a commercial plane in the sky at the same time, with the usual aircraft lights.
We watched it for 3 or 4 minutes as it moved from the north to the south across Hebden Bridge, slowly zig zagging slightly. It then gained height quickly and the light extinguished.
There was no sound, and we were unable to explain what it might be. It was the first time any of us had seen anything like this.
