Hi Brian, Also, thanks for your interest in this matter. I can only tell you what I have experienced myself at this stage. Some of my colleagues have since been back to the site and have further information which they promise to convey soon.
The location of the sightings is near to Dilwyn, Herefordshire, England. Myself and three friends arranged to visit the site back in October. Luckily, some of the sightings had come from one friend's mother and she lived in the area, so we based ourselves there. Reports had come from an area probably covering a couple of square miles and were happening at night. Unfortunately, conditions on the night of our investigations were not perfect. The sightings had happened in complete darkness, but this night the entire area was lit by very prominent moonlight.
We had been attracted to these sightings because most of the reports involved lights of some sort, either moving lights or stationary lights emitting light skywards. The majority of reports were about the moving lights, which apparently traveled only a few feet above the ground and moved quite erratically. We went armed with torches and video cameras, one of which had a night vision facility which proved very useful.
We had been shown photographic evidence taken in broad daylight of an object in some trees that we had got enlarged. The shape could have been anything to be honest, but did resemble "the devil's head complete with horns". Like I said, it could have been anything, although the trees appearing in the photograph were adjacent to fields in every direction. We came to the conclusion that the object in the picture was probably some farm vehicle. Enlarging the image hadn't helped.
We arrived at around 8:00 PM, which was dusk. We adapted ourselves to the environment, splitting up into two groups of two, just to get a fell for the area and to make sure of the area we were to survey. After meeting back together we suggested asking the mother of my friend for some more information. She pointed out the areas in which the activity had taken place, although this was very approximate but gave us an idea which areas to look. Her animals, which I think consisted of a cat and dog, had not ventured from the house for several weeks and had probably been frightened by something, as this was out of character.
As I mentioned on my posting, one neighbor had decided to move away from the area. She had reported noises and lights either around her house or inside, and no one occasion had felt "someone touch her on the shoulder" during the night.
We ventured back out into the field at around 9:00 PM although it was dark, the moonlight was surprisingly bright and on some occasions the torches were not necessary. despite this, the cameras were rolling. We originally walked over several miles in a circle in an attempt to survey the whole area, but then decided to position ourselves in the center and staying one place.
We stayed out in the fields until 1:30 AM, and still hadn't seen anything so we retired for the night disappointed from the conditions portrayed on the reports.
Since my visit to the area with my three friends, two of them have returned to the area and reported some moving lights in nearby fields but could not verify what they were. They had no video recording equipment that night, so I can only rely on their words. To this day, the animals of the house still won't explore far from the house, and the neighbor still insists on moving away. We have watched the film footage we shot during the night from both cameras, but they remain inconclusive.
I cannot comment on what I think these lights are. Bear in mind that the area is agricultural and farmers do work at night. I only wish I had seen something that night and captured something on film. Unfortunately, conditions weren't suitable. I do intend to go back sometime, but it's very hit and miss concerning the ideal circumstances; complete darkness, no wind, no rain.
As I mentioned earlier, I have yet to get some information from my two friends that returned and did manage to observe lights, so when I receive an email from them, I will let you know. I would also be interested in anything you take part in.
Thank you to the witness for the report.
