Me and my son saw one orange light over Torquay last night 2nd January 2010 at about 11.30 in the evening. It came from Newton Abbott way towards us at Chelston not moving very fast and flashing a few times as it moved. I opened my sons bedroom window, just incase it was a plane, but it was dead quiet and a very clear night. Just as I closed the window, it disappeared. Very strange.

This was most likely a Chinese lantern, particularly if it was slow-moving and travelling with the wind direction. I have seen a few such lanterns travelling over Chelston towards the sea.
I also once saw a glowing orange sphere, about six feet across, through my rear bedroom window at 4am one November night, in a neighbour's garden below roof level, which then shot up into the sky at a 45 degree angle. This was at a time when a number of such objects were also being seen across South Devon.
I've also seen, on a sunny spring morning, a genuine saucer-like disc which was seen at the same time by my niece. And one sunny afternoon I saw two metallic orbs flying behind a jet plane high in the sky; these orbs returned a few minutes later flying in the opposite direction.
