Hi Brian, I saw the same orange lights last night 11 January 2012 around 12:30 a.m.. We were at home in Broadacres and they were probably somewhere over Diepsloot or Dainfern.
There were four of them in a kind of formation moving up, they then hovered for a while and one by one vanished.
A few seconds later a fifth one appeared, did the same and vanished. Regards.
