Translucent Boomerang Shaped Craft/UFO Spotted In The Sky Over Bendigo Victoria Australia (Graphics)

Time:  9:20 p.m.

Witnessed by: Two only – Peter and Marg.
Location: (residential suburb of) Bendigo, Victoria, Australia. Outside in the open yard of our home.

Description of object: Translucent boomerang shaped object.
Direction: The object followed a constant direction of approximately NW to NNW at a constant slow speed.

Weather conditions: Calm, windless, still, cloudless, no moon at that time, stars were bright against clear dark sky.

Temperature: Approximately 10°C to 15°C
Length of Sighting: Marg approximately 10 seconds, Peter approximately 15 seconds.

Sighting as reported by Peter:

It was a beautiful clear cool evening and Marg and I were outside in the yard talking. As we were chatting, I was looking up at the sky and happened to look directly at something moving over head. I said, "look at that!" To our amazement we saw some type of aircraft gliding silently overhead.

It was not far off being directly overhead and at low altitude. If I hold my arm fully stretched towards the sky with my first and fourth fingers pointed and spread as far apart as I can, that is how much sky the wing span of the craft covered from my perspective.

It was a brief sighting (10 to 15 seconds) with the craft disappearing behind trees that obscured our view. From our home (south eastern Bendigo) it headed towards the northern area of Bendigo.

I was able to see it for longer than Marg, about 15 seconds as I was able to move to where I could see it between the trees, that by then, were obscuring Marg's view.

The object was translucent. Stars could be seen through it yet it had visible form. It was not unlike seeing a translucent jelly fish in shallow sea water. Although the leading edge was  distinct, the trailing edge (or rear) was indistinct as though it was blurry. The shape was like a boomerang.

At the time it reminded me vaguely of the wings of a typical jet passenger aircraft, (Boeing or Airbus) but without the fuselage or tail section, yet our impression was that it looked whole and complete. The shape was very like, what I now as, the B2 Stealth Bomber.

It was a very quiet, calm evening outside our home that night and there was absolutely no sound that we could make out coming from the object as it went over, unlike that of any jet or propeller craft or helicopter, all of which we often hear and see in our location.

Although translucent, the object appeared dark, not lit by any kind of glow or lights. Upon reflection, I would estimate its altitude to be approximately 150 meters and had a wing span of approximately 50 meters.

I have found these figures difficult to estimate, but put together the above estimate based on such as elapsed time, apparent speed, apparent distances and approximated angles from when it passed over.

We were left feeling in awe, having been so privileged and fortunate to have seen something so unusual, serene and graceful. Neither of us felt any fear.

Before we got to discuss what we saw in any detail, I suggested we both pencil draw what we saw. They looked much the same other than our different methods of sketching. I have misplaced those drawings, but I'm sure that we can find them if ever required.

The next day, I felt compelled to tell someone about our amazing experience. I was unsure about who to tell and what to say. Considering that I run a small business and Marg is a registered nurse working at both local hospitals, the last thing we wanted was to be known as the local fruit cakes for having gone public with our story.

So at first, I gave an anonymous report to a local radio station, their story went to air. I guess I was expecting others to come forward too with their account of the seeing the same object, but I heard nothing.

As days turned into weeks, I felt a type of anxiety building up inside me, I think now because to me there was something unresolved about this. I made some inquiries about who I could or should contact. I tried phoning a military reporting number, was not taken seriously. I tried a UFO hot line number and got some jerk who was kidding me along and stringing out my call (as I out found out later) to make money by timed/tolled incoming phone calls from people wanting to chat or ones such as myself making UFO reports.

I was then feeling very angry! At a later time, I found a phone number of a UFO investigation organization, rang it, got a message service, left some brief information about my sighting and my contact details. They didn't ever return my call.

Several years later (in 2005) I happened to see a UFO magazine in a news agency, flicked through it and saw an article written by a UFO investigator by the name of George Simpson. There was a phone number for contacting George. I rang it, got a message service, but this time I left a surly voice message saying something like, "this is the last time I'm going to bother reporting our sighting!"

To my amazement, I got a return call from George! He was very interested in our story and arranged to do a trip to Bendigo soon after, to do a video interview with Marg and I. He later posted his written story about our encounter on a website.

After having George Simpson follow up on my report, the sense of anxiety and anger left me and has not bothered me since.

So, to this day, it still remains a mystery as to what we saw. Was it man made? Was it from some another intelligent race? Or could there be a different  reason behind its origin?

We have no idea! Although 18 years have now passed, we still talk about the experience from time to time.

Blue Flash Of Light Lit Up The Sky Over Endeavour Hills Melbourne Victoria Australia

Hi, my name is (name removed), I was just Googling blue flash's and came across your web page. I tried to comment, but don't have a Google account.

I was in Endeavor Hills when I saw the flash, which was a beautiful blue and took up the entire sky. It was about midnight when it occurred on 10/02/2013.

Straight after this there was a blackout in half the street. It was amazing to see and I am intrigued to know what caused it.

3 Green/White Flashes In The Sky Over Frankston Victoria Australia

Bright Orange Lights Seen Flying Over Buninyong Golf Club Buninyong Victoria Australia

Hi Brian, my wife and I just witnessed a bright orange light move across the 10th hole of the Buninyong Golf Course and straight in front of our lounge room which faces the course.

 

It moved slowly with no noise and seemed to hover before moving eventually out of sight heading south. It didn't seem very high in the sky, and it seemed to have some shape, but it could have been my eyes playing tricks.

 

Certainly weirdest thing I've ever seen in the sky. There was no wind at all and skies were crystal clear so doubt it could have been a lantern as it moved sideways and almost stop at one point.

My wife is an investigator and I'm a business analyst so we are skeptical, but we could not come up with any logical explanation.

Object Changes Different Colors Seen From St Albans Melbourne Victoria Australia

Full Description of Event/Sighting: We were seeing some family members off after a dinner and as they left my mother sat on front porch with my wife and two kids. I was standing up in front of the stairs,  it was a lovely night and as we started talking, and enjoying the lovely weather. 

 

I looked up in the distance and saw these lights that looked like a plane at first, until they started to change colours and make erratic movements. It was moving from right to left, forwards backwards from left to right, up and down and the lights were red, blue, green, orange and white and it was also hovering from spot to spot.

 

We watched it for a good 10 to 15 minutes until it disappeared over the horizon and we could not see it anymore. We were stunned at what we saw. We could only come to one conclusion that it had to be something out of this world, as nothing that we could think of could have made those movement at a fanatical pace.

 

I tried to record it on my phone, but being night it didn’t come up, so unfortunately I have no proof, but there were 5 people outside that saw the same thing. 

 

I told friends and acquaintances, they all thought and said we were tripping, until my brother Googled it and found that other people saw similar things on that night. So now we are quiet confident that what we saw was and had to be Alien sightings.

UFO Came To A Hover Over Great Ocean Road Port Campbell Victoria Australia

Time:  Late evening.

 

Hi Brian, I am emailing you because I read a story on the internet and I wanted you to know that my friend and I saw a UFO off the Great Ocean Road near Port Campbell around January of the year 2000. We were sleeping in the back of our car looking up at the stars this night and we saw some kind of aircraft with white lights.

 

It was kind of flying slowly into view from off to the right. It stopped and just hovered there for awhile. My friend and I had time to say to each other, 'can you see what I  can see?' and 'what the hell is that' before it suddenly flew away into the distance at an incredible speed.

 

The amazing thing was that it seemed to get further and further away, and then in the far distance we saw a little orange flare, as though it was leaving the atmosphere if you know what I mean?

 

You're definitely not alone because I have found quite a lot of other reports around the Great Ocean Road. It seems to be a hot spot for sightings. Cheers.

UFO Cuts Through The Clouds Over Wodonga Victoria Australia

Full Description of Event/Sighting: I looked up at the sky to comment on gathering clouds and noticed what I thought at the time was a star, maybe Venus. The object I was looking at definitely looked like a star, but moved. While fixed on the object, it became apparent it was only reflecting light and was at level with numerous clouds in the sky, as it cut through several of them.

The object was not fixed to the wind, I assume, as it cut paths completely different to those the clouds were following. I and my companions lost sight after about 15 minutes due to cloud gathering.

Small Object Grows Into A Bright White Sphere Over Springvale Victoria Australia

Full Description of Event/Sighting: I was randomly observing the night sky and when I looked towards the south, about 60 degrees above the horizon, I saw a star slowly growing in size into a bright white sphere and then it quickly reduced to it's normal size. I guess the star's(?) magnitude/brightness was about 3 to 4 and it's maximum brightness was over -0.5. I'm not sure if this is some type of astronomical phenomenon.

Bright Light Seen Over Highett Melbourne Victoria Australia

Time: 6:25 p.m.

Hi, the morning of 26th of February 2011. Location Melbourne suburb Highett. I was leaving for work this morning (from Highett) at 6:25am, it was a beautiful clear and still morning a few stars still out as dawn was breaking. I was looking west at a very large bright (I thought) star caught my attention. The light was consistent with the other stars in the sky, but bigger and brighter.

Then I noticed it moving and automatically thought it was a plane, but I could not see any flashing lights (you know the green, red flashing ones around a normal plane and there was no sound either). So I stood there watching it in the front yard for about 30 seconds and it had already moved steadily from my furthest view (west) to directly above me.

It wasn't close to the ground, it was very high up and amazingly bright, so I called out to my wife to come outside quickly. She joined me and I pointed it out to her. She asked me what it was and I answered "no idea". We continued to view it until it disappeared into the eastern sky which happened fairly quickly.

Now I am 100% certain it wasn't a plane as it wasn't making a sound, and no other flashing lights existed on the craft. I have seen many satellites before, but never anything this bright and it also seemed to large to be a satellite.

The only other logical explanation, I wonder if it was a space station. How do I find out if a space station was in the vicinity in this time? Regards.

Gippsland Hwy heading towards Melbourne on the freeway in-between Pound Road and the Princes Hwy. I looked up at what I thought was a plane flying low, it had sort of long wingspan and a short body.

It had red lights all around, spaced apart a bit. I thought it was flying a bit low and I looked back at the road for a second, and looked up at it again and it was gone. It came from behind me, passed over me when I noticed it, but within a few seconds it took me to look at the road and back again it was gone there was no flashing lights to be seen anywhere.

Huge Cigar Shaped UFO Seen By Thousands Of New Year's Eve Revelers Near Lorne Victoria Australia

Date: Either 1968 or 1969

Time: Approx: 1:00 a.m. – 2:00 a.m.

Hi, My name is (name removed) and I am now 64 years old. I lived in Melbourne until 1973 and then moved to the Far North Coast of NSW where I still reside.

My UFO sighting occurred in the early hours of New Years Day (approx. 1:00 – 2:00am) either 1968 or 1969 when I was aged 20 or 21. My friend (name removed) and I had celebrated New Year's Eve at Lorne, Victoria. Back in those day, the New Year's Eve celebrations drew big crowds of young people listening to rock 'n roll and partying in the streets. Even though a lot of people drank excessively, neither my friend or myself did. My friend was a dedicated surfer who didn't like to suffer from hangovers.

Back to the story. We left Lorne in the early hours and drove west to our camping spot at Kennett River. At the time we seemed to be the only car driving along that section of the Great Ocean Road. Suddenly a huge UFO appeared from the right over the ranges with smaller ones trailing. It was the shape of a cigar and it did have lights along the side we could see. It really was huge, but seemed to be very high in the sky also. The ones trailing were just specks of light.

I can't remember now if there were 3 or 4 or about a dozen. My friend and I were really shocked. We had time to pull to the side of the road in one of the parking bays, and just watch this huge UFO with the little ones following for a couple of minutes. Like I said before, it appeared from the right over the ranges and then disappeared out to sea in the Great Australian Bight, and if I remember correctly, this took a number of minutes. After they disappeared into the distance, we just sat there talking about what we'd seen and how frightened we felt even though nothing untoward had happened to us.

After a while we continued driving back to the camping ground at Kennett River.

The next day or day after, I read a small article in a newspaper (and I can't remember which one) about UFOs being sighted near Lorne by thousands of New Year's Eve revelers.

Of course, when relating my UFO story over the next 40 years, people always fall about laughing when I tell them it happened on New Year's Eve near Lorne, because everyone thinks we were drunk or stoned. Not so. I always add that I'm not saying it was from outer space, but it was an Unidentified Flying Object with smaller ones flying, and I have never seen anything like it before or since. It was huge, very high in the sky, and in sight for 2 - 3 minutes.

What really puzzles me is that I haven't been able to find any reference to this story on the internet, and a few years ago, whilst in Melbourne, I went to the State Library and spent some time checking old newspapers, to no avail, even though it was reported that thousands of people saw it. I've also lost contact with my friend who would be in his late 60s by now. I would love to hear if anyone else can remember this incident.

Two Oval UFOs Over Caroline Springs Melbourne Victoria Australia

Full Description of Event/Sighting: On a hot clear blue sky I looked up at the horizon and we notice 2 bright lights coming towards us. We thought it was two gliders. We watch them get closer and closer, they were too high in sky for gliders or a plane. They would flicker from side to side and they were oval shaped.

As they got closer, all we had to do, was to look straight up and you can see them clearly. There was no noise, no smoke, nothing. One craft stopped and the other one kept going west. We watched the craft for 5 minutes and it stayed there, like it was watching us.

We looked over to see where the other one was, it was well over to the west, but we can see the craft flickering just like bright lights. We looked back at the other craft, (As a 3rd witness came out of a building, he too seen the craft) and the next thing the craft was moving and caught up with the other craft (it was like the other object was waiting for it) and they started going sideways, in and out of each other and this went on for 5 minutes. It was amazing and I also was scared. I did report this, but have had no response.

Soap Bubble UFO Turns Bright White Over Buninyong Victoria Australia

Shape of Objects: Like a soup or glass bubble then turned into a bright white light.

Full Description of Event/Sighting: I was sitting in the backyard talking with the animals, looked up and saw what looked like a soap bubble hovering in the next door neighbors garden. It didn't seem to be very high in the sky, sitting just above their trees. I watched it for a bit, maybe a minute? - and then all of a sudden it turned into a bright white light.

At this time my son came outside and sat a watched it with me. The light seemed to stay in the same place for quite a while (another minute or two) then slowly moved off into the distance in a fairly straight line. Eventually I just couldn't see it anymore.

The sky was blue, cloudless and the weather was mild. I have to say I have watched many, many UFO documentaries in my time, never quite believing but still fascinated by people's accounts. I have always hoped that I too might see something. Well this would have to be the closest thing I've ever seen to a UFO. I have no idea what it was that I saw, but I certainly saw something! I do not drink nor take drugs, I was having a ciggy at the time.

Very curious to know if anyone else in my area saw it, but can't find anything online at this time. I must say at first I thought that the neighbors must have been blowing bubbles and I looked around for more, but there was just this one. Very strange indeed. (Have since discovered that the neighbors are actually away at the moment).

We both saw three lights in the sky in the shape of a triangle moving at a moderate pace, at first we thought it was perhaps a satellite, but then it shot away at a very fast speed so suddenly away from our sight.

Werribee Victoria Australia A Triangular UFO

Description: Driving south with my wife we both noticed one star get brighter and larger and all of the sudden within about five seconds we noticed this bright star was a triangular object the size of a single story house, shiny black in appearance which totally stopped and hovered about 100 meters in front of us. It did a 180 turn as it spun upside down and disappeared as quickly as it approached and blended into the starry sky. My wife and myself were totally freaked by this situation. The strange thing was not seeing this object but something told my wife and myself to look up into the sky as we were driving, like we were expecting something. My occupation is an aerospace technician and with my experience I could not believe something of this size could stop so quickly in mid flight, turn and take of so quick, its not natural.

Bacchus Marsh, Victoria Two UFOs

Weather Conditions: Clear night....a little smoke haze from the bushfires...but very minimal

Description: My mate and I were looking at the stars and noticed what appeared to be a satellite directly overhead. We watched its path for 30 seconds travelling in a northerly direction, and then we noticed another satellite (directly overhead as well but travelling in a sth/west direction.

We watched the second sats path and it looked as though it was dodging space debris and not maintaining a perfectly straight path. We both thought this was a little odd. We watched it till it wasn't visible but then in roughly the same patch of sky was a blue flash of light. A brilliant indigo blue that flickered twice then 3-4 secs later flashed again briefly for a split second. We both believe it was very unusual and not of this world....we've never seen anything like it....45* in the sky but not that far away.....possibly 15 - 20 km away east towards Melbourne direction.

No prop or jet plane was heard before or after.

We both saw exactly the same thing, same color and no sound. And no it wasn't a meteor, as I see them regularly and know the difference.

This experience was very short but profound.

No shape to the sighting only a bright blue light flashing twice in different places. The second flash appeared approx 3 secs after the first but seemed to be 20k from the first. It could of been one UFO or two....it happened very quickly and we looked for more indications of the same without luck.

Definitely unusual...and I get the feeling it was not of this world. I often look in the sky at comets in the low east and meteors quiet often and planes from Tullamarine to Adelaide travel over Bacchus Marsh, as well we have an aerodrome ... Dad is a pilot and I grew up reading warbird books as well as have been to Oskosh air show. I know the difference between usual and unusual....it wasn't a helicopter either. It was simply a weird electric blue light. Like blue plasma.

Royal Botanical Gardens, Melbourne, Victoria Shiny Golden UFO (Pictures)

Weather Conditions: Perfect blue sky, no clouds.

Description: My wife and myself were just unwinding in the Royal Botanical gardens and were going to have a little sleep, when my wife noticed something strange in the sky. She told me "this is not a plane" We then took a 4 pics of the flying object. The object was flying towards south-east of Melbourne.
What was incredible to our eye was how this object was bright and shiny. It wasn't moving very fast, but faster than a plane, it took only a 2 minutes to appear and disappear from our view.

Thanks for getting back to me. The pictures are pretty large in size, but you'll need to do a close-up (the 'U.F.O' appears pretty small in the picture) That's why you will find here 2 pictures for the moment (there is 4 in total), + a close-up work done by my brother. With my wife we are also both very interested to know UFOINFO's opinion about the flying object on our pictures: in your opinion does it look like an UFO? Or is it something we can explain?

Kangaroo Ground Victoria, Australia Oval Shaped Green Streaking Object

Full Description of event/sighting: We were returning home from a cancelled early morning balloon flight in the Yarra Valley. The sighting took place as we progressed towards Eltham on the road passing through Kangaroo Ground.

Conditions were perfectly clear skies (although windy), in a rural 80 km/h area, with no street lighting. My wife and I were driving within the speed limit and were both suddenly aware of a beautiful oval shaped, transparent green streak of light that was travelling at high speed in a diagonal trajectory towards the fields next to our car (on the driver side).

The shape was briefly identified (about 10-20 seconds) as an oval of about 3 feet (1 metre) in length, coated in a soft green shroud of swirling gases and light, with a long thin tracer tail of vapour (similar to a comet). It was hard to see if the object was a rock/meteorite, foreign craft or a piece of \'space rubbish\' burning up as it headed to earth. The object was barely metres from our vehicle (a black family sedan car). There were no vehicle in my rear view mirror or in front of us at the time of the sighting.

There was no opportunity to pursue the object as no safe area to stop and change our course/observe the event further. We did not witness any further lights or see/hear any explosion on impact etc.

UFOs Over Bendigo, Victoria, Australia

Shape of objects: Both round lights.

Full Description of event/sighting: Last night around 10.15pm I was leaving my friends house in the car when for what reason I don't know I looked up at the sky and I saw two very bright lights flying low across the sky above my head and slightly to the left. I watched them go behind some trees ahead of me and followed in my car so I could get a better look. As I got to the other side of the trees, the lights were much further away and I only saw them again for a second or two when they just disappeared. There was no noise, it was completely silent. I did not have the radio on and my window was down.

When I think about the way in which they moved, it did not seem natural, like an aeroplane. I felt totally calm and didn't freak out at all. After they disappeared I stopped my car and got out to see if I could see where they went and there was nothing. It was a clear night here in Bendigo, Victoria, Australia. I text my friend who's house I just left and told them what I saw. Then continued on my way home. I wonder if anyone else saw them, surely someone must have.

Bendigo, Victoria, Australia Red Light Shoots Through The Sky

Weather Conditions: Clear, fresh and breezy.

Description: We were driving back from home to university, when we saw 1 red and 1 white light in the sky. When my friend looked closer and he identified the white light as a plane because of the flashing lights on the wings, but it wasn't the white light that concerned us. I stopped the car to take a closer look at this red light. It didn't seem far away from us, less than a km away, if that.

Everything was quiet and this light was just moving smoothly along the tree-line making no noise at all. Then suddenly it just vanished, no more red light, we waited for about 15 seconds looking everywhere for it and then a red streak (like a shooting star) followed by a small white flash shot through the sky. My friend and I both knew this wasn't just a shooting star or a satellite for that matter.
