Orange Red Ball Of Light Over Northwich Cheshire UK

Hi Brian, I know it’s been some time since you posted your orange red ball of light blog last June 2010, but after seeing it tonight, I did a search and your blog came up.

I live in Northwich Cheshire and I am used to aircraft in the landing pattern which land at Manchester airport. I also am familiar with the tracking of the ISS international space station which passes overhead at certain times of year and time of day etc., but what I saw was way different than anything I have seen before.

 

A quick check on the ISS tracking shows no visible sightings for 10:00pm on the 20th of May 2011, so I am at a loss to what this was.

I saw a what appeared to be just as you described, a large orange/red ball of light which moved faster than the normal airplanes that land at Manchester. It had no noise and it was larger than most airplanes that pass overhead. It had no aircraft flashing lights and moved much faster than a Chinese lantern that you can tell with the flickering flames in them. Anyway so I knew it wasn't one of them.

At first I thought it was an aircraft with it’s engine on fire, but as it got closer I could see it was just a big ball of light, no noise or other factors that could establish it was an aircraft.

It also seemed to move to slow to be a fireball or meteor, so am at a loss. If it was a fireball, it left no trail that I could see which is unusual, so I am stumped.

Anyway, sorry for pestering you, I just wanted to share my experience.

Object Fades Then Brightens Over Northwich UK

Time:  After midnight.

 

Hi, I was in my back garden in Northwich just after midnight. I had my binoculars with me as I like to star gaze as and when we get any clear skies.

 

I wasn't looking for anything in particular. I was looking in a southerly direction and noticed an object tracking across the sky.

It started off as a faint glow, then became very bright. After around ten seconds it started to fade out, but moving incredibly fast.

 

I can most certainly say it was not a Chinese lantern, as I've witnessed so many of these in the sky in the past. This object was moving with a purpose.

It was far too high to be any form of commercial airliner. There were no flashing lights as you would expect to see from a plane.

 

The only way I can described it's brightness is, to compare it with that of the ISS when that passes over and then moves into the earths shadow.

Not odd?, well this is the odd bit. The object was tracking on a south to north heading. It should have stayed illuminated as it would have been in constant sun light.

 

I should have been able to see it track the sky all the way to my visible horizon, yet it did not do that. Besides, if it had been a Chinese lantern, then who in there right mind releases one at that time of the morning? It was far too bright for one of them.

At around 12:20, the ISS did actually track over on it's usual path of west to east. I watched it as I always have until it faded out over Europe.

It is not the first time I have seen something in the sky and been amazed. Last year, I witness in broad daylight a shiny silver sphere. It's altitude was very high. The reason it caught my eye was that it glimmered in the sunlight. I observed this for around 30 seconds until it suddenly shot off at very high speed.

My first encounter was back in 1997 when I was stationary at the traffic lights at Sandiway in Northwich. In the distance, I saw what I can only describe as a teardrop shaped craft with what appeared to be two triangular sections at the front. It banked to the left and headed in the general direction of Alton Park.

I reported it to the UFO society and it did actually make the Northwich Guardian.

Bright Orange Light Over Northwich UK

Hello, just thought I would add a bit to this story I saw posted on http://worldufos.blogspot.com/ title of post in Subject bar.

Here's what I have to say about the orange lights anyway. I have seen them 3 times over a period of 3 months. The last sighting was at 19:27 Sat 02/10/10. I too like the guy who posted on the blog was out in my back garden having a smoke (tobacco), I watch the sky all the time when I go out for one, anyway 1 orange light out of nowhere appeared. I mean from out of the black, it did not come from any direction just appeared and the second came seconds after.

The lights where the same colour as orange street lights on the road and they were slightly pulsing. They then, staying at what looked to be the same altitude, headed west pretty slowly and then they disappeared from sight behind buildings in my street. I didn't see them vanish. I posted on Yahoo answers about this and people came back with the general "It's a Chinese lantern" but why would a Chinese lantern head west when on that day the wind was heading in a easterly direction?

Where I live I see alot of airplanes going into land at Manchester airport. This was no plane but the flight path was smooth just like one.

The previous times I have seen them was In Livingston (also quite near an airport (Edinburgh airport), West Lothian, Scotland can't remember the date, but it was late July when I first saw it and then I saw it again mid August. The first time my mate was driving me home after going round to my other mates house. Didn't drink, we were on a road called Bankton Road when in-between the streetlights above the road hovering about a meter above the lights was an orange light.

We passed underneath it and had to go round a round about, we then looked back at where we first saw it and this thing flew and I mean fast heading east towards Edinburgh way. It was about the size of a Frisbee. The second time it was just hovering above a forest near Adambrae Parks where I used to live also in Livingston. I saw it for 30 seconds ish, I was in a car and lost it for a minute or so when passing some trees when I looked back up at it, it was gone.

Every time it has been the exact same light no differences, slightly pulsing. My little brother who was sleeping in the conservatory that night at the 2nd sighting in Livingston. Heard aviation noises, he said like a helicopter. I don't get it to be honest and to see this 3 times this year, after seeing nothing like it in my life. Weird.

9 Or 10 Bright Lights Over Northwich Cheshire UK

Time: 10:35 p.m.

Further to the strange lights witnessed on the 4th June. I saw something very similar on 6th June (last night) at approx 22:35. About 9 or 10 very bright lights following one another, all coming from the same area and heading for the same point in the sky.

At first I thought that they must have been helicopters, but they were silent and very fast, and as they were all taking exactly the same direct path, I discounted any type of lantern. As noted previously they seemed to fade. It looked to me as if they were increasing in altitude!

Bright Orange Light Over Northwich UK

Time: Approx: 11:45 p.m.

Dear Brian, last night at approx: 11.45pm I was stood in the garden having a smoke, when suddenly a bright orange light appeared in the middle of the sky (imagine the colour of a flame in a pitch black room) quickly followed by a second. Travelling across the same line in the sky then fading into the distance. I ran in to get my girlfriend to see, then when I came out a third had appeared on a slightly higher trajectory.

There was no way these could of been planes or anything else, so as I Googled it this morning to see if anyone else had seen anything, this is when I came across your post from New Years eve, which seemed like a similar description. Just thought I'd share this with you, to see if you'd had any feedback from that since. I'm also thinking it almost exactly 6 months since your own sighting. Coincidence?

10-15 Round Orange Lights Over Northwich Cheshire UK

Time: Approx: 12:15 a.m.

Hi, A very unusual experience just after midnight on Jan 1st 2010, Northwich, Cheshire. I went outside to 'let out the old year and bring in the new' about 12.15am to see in a clear sky between 10-15 round orange objects. They were moving from a North/Northwesterly direction on a similar path. No sound or no aircraft lights. After travelling across the sky, they disappeared. The experience was witnessed by both myself and my wife. Any ideas?

30 Orange Lights Over Northwich UK

Time: 12:15 a.m.

Hi Brian, I just seen your posting on orange lights over Manchester. I was at my son-in-law's house in Northwich on New Year's Eve letting off fireworks at about 12:15 am. Suddenly (name removed) and myself saw about 30 orange lights in the sky coming towards us, quite scary. My daughter, wife and family friend also saw them. Obviously all fireworks stopped in the area surrounding us. They were high in the sky and moving very fast. A plane from the airport went overhead and the people on board must have seen them.

There was no noise from these lights, but I did see some burning material fall from the back of one of them and then the debris disappeared. So then they went to Manchester did they? Amazing ! What I find more so is that there's been no news reports on the TV or radio. That's all the info. I have except to say I haven't a clue what they were or how they came to be there. Regards.

Northwich, Cheshire, England UK Glowing Orange/Red Balls

Time: Between 8:50 and 9:05 p.m.

Number of witnesses: 5 (so far)
Number of objects: 8
Shape of objects: Glowing orange/red balls to start, then when they turned to "leave" triangular in shape.
Weather Conditions: Completely clear sky, about minus one. Little/no wind.

Description: Glanced out of the window to see eight balls of light coming towards the house. Shouted partner to get camera (4 photo's taken) and come have a look. Three of the balls moved off, five remained in position as we took pictures. I went downstairs to watch with a neighbour, then came back indoors as the view from upstairs was less cluttered and a lot warmer. They moved silently and I am almost 100% positive they were not lanterns.

I posted on the local newspaper website forum and have found that others had indeed seen the same thing. Interesting side note: we live near the flightpath for landings to Manchester international airport (we are used to all manner of aviation), and whilst these were in the sky - no landings took place - when they had gone, four planes came overhead to land in quick succession within the space of 5 minutes. Most unusual.

I had a look and they were certainly not lanterns....... the close up pictures we have of them show anything but, and there is certainly no way they were such things. There have been two further reports of the same lights on the local newspaper forum I mentioned - so they were seen over an 8 mile area from different vantage points by at least ten or more people.
