Russian Meteor Causes Blast: Hundreds Injured (Video Clips)

Moscow (CNN) -- A meteor streaked through the skies above Russia's southern Chelyabinsk region Friday morning, before exploding with a flash and boom that shattered glass in buildings and left hundreds of people hurt.

The number of people reporting injuries climbed to more than 500 by lunchtime, according to Vladimir Stepanov, of the National Center for Emergency Situations at the Russian Interior Ministry.

Meteor Leaves Trailing Debris In The Sky Over Bury In Greater Manchester UK

I just seen a meteor very low over Bury in Greater Manchester. I thought it was a firework at first, but no noise and lots of trailing debris.

Nothing on internet about it yet, but you came up first on search.

South Korea, Kunsan Air Force Army Serviceman Observes Meteor

Time: Approx: 6:30 a.m.

Hi, My name is (name removed) and I am in the Army. I am currently stationed in South Korea at Kunsan Air Force base to be exact. Anyways, I did spot that meteor, but it was in the morning around 630ish. We are 12-14 hours ahead of the U.S. I didn't see much though as it was a little flash and then a green streak was left in the air for about a minute. The streak was, well looking at the sky, probably about and inch long. I'm telling you this cause I seen your page note thing asking for people to tell you about it if we seen it. I hope this helps you out.

Philippines Meteor Sighting

I saw the falling star also around 7:20 pm June 16, 2008 here in the Philippines. Like any young at heart I even made a wishes! :)

I researched about it cause I want to know if other people saw it and if it was really not just any aircraft, then I found your site.

Between Wallan And Kalkallo, Victoria Australia (Meteor Or Bollide)

Date: October 2, 2007 Time: Approx: 10:00 p.m.

Second sighting: Approx: 5 minutes later.

Hume Hwy in vicinity of 'Wallan' (Near Turnoff) 2nd - Hume Hwy between 'Wallan' and 'Kalkallo' - (20mins north Of Melbourne) Victoria Australia.

Approach Direction: 1st - East (from open ground) 2nd - North (from behind & off to the right). Departure Direction: 1st - West (over open ground) 2nd - South (behind hills). Witness Direction: 1st + 2nd - Travelling southbound (driving).

Description: 1st - Bright flare-like light flashed across the sky in front of my car whilst driving.. Briefly lit the whole surrounding area! 2nd - As above but off to my right (west). Came from behind and travelling much higher; vanished over low hills in split second! Intriguingly, within minutes I heard fast jet-aircraft overhead, heading in same direction. (!?)

Color/Shape: 1st + 2nd - Blinding brightly light flare-shape. Bluey/turquoise with brighter yellow/orange front.

Height & Speed: 1st - Approx 200-300 feet. 2nd - 3-4 Times higher. Both at high-speed!

TV/Radio/Press: Unknown. Still searching!

Bentleigh, Melbourne, Australia (Meteor Or Bollide)

Date: October 2, 2007 Time: 9:48 p.m.

Approach Direction: From stationary. Departure Direction: Southeast. Witness Direction: East.

Description: My finance and two sons (aged 7 and 10) were walking along our driveway towards our house when a blue glow lit up the area around us, including the sky, which caused me to look up towards the source. It was a stationary object in the sky which appeared to be oval. As soon as I looked towards it, it took off in a south eastern direction at such a speed which no human machine is capable of doing. It left a trail similar in appearance to a vapor trail for approximately a 15 degree arc across the horizon which was bright blue in color. The trail faded gradually over several seconds. The whole event took no more than 5 seconds.

Color/Shape: Could not see the shape clearly as it was inside a brightly glowing haze. From what I could make out, it was like a skinny oval.

Height & Speed: The object lit up and then traveled at such a speed that I have never seen in human machines.

TV/Radio/Press: I have not reported it nor have I heard anything yet, as I just came inside and reported the incident on the internet.
