Full Description of Event/Sighting: Yesterday evening (12th March 2010 approximately 8:30pm) whilst walking my dogs over our local recreational ground I spotted what I can only describe as a UFO.
I was chatting to my 3 children and one of their friends when the friend looked up and said what's that? It was dark and the sun had long set, a glowing ball of what seemed like fire was traveling towards us in the sky from the northeast, it was traveling at speed and in a straight line. Within seconds it had almost reached us and seemed to slow at an even rate and then eventually stopped and hovered.
It wasn't directly above us but quite close and at an altitude that seemed the same as the planes that fly into London City airport on their landing flight path here. It hovered a little unsteadily for about 30 seconds and then took off at speed again towards the south. There was no noise no flashing lights no bright lights.
The flight path here travels from East to West and the light was a glowing orange not a bright white plane headlight and there was no red, green or white flashing lights, no noise and it hovered! This was no plane. We do get a lot of helicopters in the area, I know that this was no helicopter it made no sound and again no flashing lights. I can pretty much rule out it being a lantern, firstly it seemed far too big and the speed at which it traveled was not consistent with the wind that day and again it moved in what seemed a steered and controlled course.
This morning I Googled 'UFO sightings Aveley' and came across a very similar sighting a little over a year ago November 15th 2008. The link is http://www.ufoinfo.com/sightings/uk/081115a.shtml
I hope this of some interest to you, sadly we took no pictures and not sure they would have shown much to be honest anyway. Regards.
