Glowing Lights Seen Over Roodepoort Johannesburg South Africa

Date:  July 1, 2012 and January 4, 2013
Time:  Evenings.

It could be lanterns from the Chinese New Year. Or something else. We have seen this twice in Roodepoort Johannesburg.

Strangely enough, travelling from the North to West and disappearing.

And two days later, tonight 04 January 2013, about 10 min ago, coming from that exact direction in which it disappeared, moving about 1000 feet, very quickly towards the Fourways area.

On 01 July 2012 - I know the date because we were moving house, we thought it was a star at 2 in the morning, but then it started moving in a pattern, down and up and am not so sure that it was a very, bright and glowing, brilliant yellow bright star

3 UFOs Observed Over Georginia Roodepoort South Africa

Time: Afternoon.

Good Evening Brian, I Googled "round aerial objects" over Roodepoort, to day and found your UFO sightings web-site.

Here I read about your reported sightings late 2010 / early 2011 over Fourways and Allen's Neck, Weltevreden Park.

I'd like to add my own observations of what I saw this afternoon. I went outside after the end of my work day. I live in Georginia, Roodepoort. I went to sit in the garden on a garden chair and started looking up at the sky above me. I did this for about 15 - 20 minutes, paying close attention to cloud movements and cloud patterns at different heights.

After a while I became aware of swallows, the odd pigeon and then suddenly, out of a south-westerly direction the first spherical, dark-grey object appeared and was moving steadily in a north-easterly direction. The size of the first object was no larger than my finger nail and moved at a speed that took it from being somewhere over Roodepoort, to somewhere over Northcliff in less than 2 - 3 minutes.

There were no engine sounds. As soon as I became aware of the first object, a second and shortly after that, a third object appeared. I asked myself whether these were balloons, but their flight path was too deliberate. The second and third object were smaller (higher) than the first. All three seemed to move at an altitude beneath the lowest cloud cover (I was unable to gauge the height).

Once all three had passed overhead, and were moving rapidly and steadily in a north-easterly direction, the two smaller objects suddenly "vanished" - the moment that happened, the first (larger) object became immobile and simply hovered at what seemed to be the same place for a long period of time. What did seem strange, was that this object became smaller and smaller - almost as if it were moving upwards in a vertical, diagonal trajectory.

Bright Orange Object Over Weltevreden Park Allen’s Nek Roodepoort Gauteng South Africa

Time: Between 7:15 and 7:30 p.m.

Dear Brian, UFO SIGHTING


Weather: Clear sky.

My son and I saw a UFO (extremely similar if not identical to descriptions of two sightings on 1 January, 2011 over Four Ways, Johannesburg, as posted on “Vike Factor” of 3 January 2011) gliding or floating across the sky above our suburb, heading South-Westerly towards the Constantia Kloof/Florida area where it appeared to veer in a Southerly direction. It seemed to be at a fairly low altitude (5,000 meters ?) and maintained a relatively slow but steady speed.

At it’s apex above us, a bright-orange, flame-like glow was clearly visible underneath the object which, from our perspective, appeared round with a diameter of something between a ping-pong ball and a tennis ball.

After our line of sight to the object had reached approximately 45 degrees, the orange glow gradually disappeared, leaving the flat-oval dark silhouette of the object barely visible against a darkening sky. We lost sight as it curved into a Southerly heading. The object produced no sound.

Our sighting lasted for maybe one minute. We both concluded that the object was not an aeroplane, glider, balloon, helicopter or similar flying machine and it was way too dark already for it to have been a reflection of sunlight against the metal of a fuselage. It was most definitely also no shooting star or satellite, meteor.

This was our first such sighting. Not being a skeptic, my curiosity led me to ‘Google’ for other possible similar reported sightings around the same time. I came across many, with practically identical descriptions, from places around the world, between late November 2010 to early January 2011! What’s happening?
