Bright Orange Ball Of Light Over Mickleover Derby England UK

Date: July 23, 2010
Time: 10:55 p.m.

Location of Sighting: Mickleover, Derby, England.
Number of witnesses: 2
Number of Objects: 1
Shape of Objects: Ball of orange light.

Full Description of Event/Sighting: Further to our 3 previous sightings during May and June 2010, we believe we have just witnessed our 4th sighting of an orange ball of light. We were outside looking up at the sky and noticed a very bright glowing orange light travelling fairly quickly, horizontally, in a north to south direction.

It was completely silent, not flashing like an aircraft, and we would say it was not a Chinese lantern as it was moving very purposefully against the general wind and cloud direction. We only witnessed it for a minute or so as our view was then obscured by trees, and we were unable to make out any particular shape even with binoculars.

If you have seen anything like this in the same area please be kind enough to contact Brian Vike at: sighting@telus.net with the details of your sighting. All personal information is kept confidential.

White And Orange Light Over Mickleover Derby England United Kingdom

Date: June 25, 2010
Time: 22.30ish and 22.45

Location of Sighting: Mickleover, Derby, England
Number of witnesses: 2
Number of Objects: 1 white at 22.30 and 1 orange at 22.45.
Shape of Objects: Bright lights - 2 separate types, 1 white, 1 orange.

Full Description of Event/Sighting: Very shortly after submitting a sighting from last night, my husband and I went out into the garden tonight at 22.30 and a few minutes later spotted a very bright white light, similar to the sighting last evening (Thursday 24th June) again travelling silently and horizontally from the southwest to the east. Whilst standing outside, some ten minutes later I then noticed a very visible bright orange light coming towards us which I thought at first was a plane, but it was soon obvious it was exactly the same object we had previously seen back on 22 May and again on 11 June - totally silent, an extremely bright pulsating orange fiery light, and what my husband described as a darkish "aura" around it. It travelled very quickly indeed from East to West on a horizontal path and was soon out of sight. As before, we are sure many other people will have witnessed this. Would really like to have an explanation for all these recent sightings.

Bright White Light Over Mickleover Derby England UK

Date: June 24 and June 25, 2010
Time: 23.45 and 00.30

Location of Sighting: Mickleover, Derby, England.
Number of witnesses: 3
Number of Objects: 1
Shape of Objects: Bright white light, varying in appearance.

Brian Vike's Note (Sightings.com): In regards to this sighting report and many others I have received. Folks are going to experience many extremely bright, white light sightings over the next few days. The International Space Station (ISS) will be in constant sunlight. You can also visit http://spaceflight.nasa.gov/realdata/sightings/index.html Human Space Flight to check on your area for the ISS sightings. It is a spectacular sight to see.

This information is courtesy of Space Weather.com - For the next few days, the behemoth spacecraft will be in constant sunlight as its orbit lines up with Earth's day-night terminator. This means it will shine brightly in the night sky every single time it passes overhead. Some observers can see it 3, 4, even 5 times a night! Bill Cooke of the Marshall Space Flight Center has prepared a movie showing the simulated view from a sun-facing window on the ISS and the movie clip can be found at: http://www.spaceweather.com/ along with more detailed information.

Full Description of Event/Sighting: Incredibly we have just witnessed our third strange sighting in just 4 weeks or so. Last night (Thursday 24 June) at 23.45 my husband called me and my daughter to see a completely silent very bright white light pass across the sky, certainly below the normal flight altitudes. We all watched it for about 4 minutes travelling from the southwest to an easterly direction. My daughter watched it from upstairs through a pair of binoculars, so was able to describe it in far more detail than my husband and I who just saw a completely white, bright light.

It travelled steadily and horizontally and she described to us the way it appeared to change as it passed by. Initially it was a very bright white light, almost like the headlight of a plane, with what appeared to her to be a dark rectangular shape behind it, (slightly darker than the sky colour). She then says it seemed to become a “sombrero” hat shape, i.e. a dome of light above an elongated dish shape, curving up at either end. She cannot say whether these two shapes were separate from each other, or “attached”.

Next it seemed to become more of an oval cigar shape, and as it passed away from her she described the rear view as being a cluster of bright white lights. My husband continued watching, and about 40-45 minutes later (approximately 00.30 a.m. he saw a similar object taking the same route. Again he observed just a very bright light, completely silent. We had watched several aircraft that night, so can discount those.

Flash Then Bright Orange Light Over Mickleover Derby Derbyshire U.K.

Date: June 11, 2010
Time: 10:20 p.m.

Location of Sighting: Mickleover, Derby, Derbyshire, U.K.
Number of witnesses: 2
Number of Objects: 1
Shape of Objects: Appeared like a star.

Full Description of Event/Sighting: Having submitted our first ever report back in May. I looked up at the sky now whenever I can, and tonight I first noticed a bright white flash high up in the clouds, and called my husband quickly. A few seconds later he pointed out to me, an extremely bright orange object in the eastern sky, a lot lower than where I had seen the flash, moving horizontally, steadily and silently towards the south southeast. I followed this with his binoculars and it was not a plane (no flashing lights) and we both doubt whether it was a Chinese lantern.

It was very similar to what we had seen back in May, but travelling in the opposite direction. It was impossible to make out any shape, other than a very bright star like one. It seemed to keep below the cloud level. (I thought it may have been descending slightly, but my husband thinks it was maintaining a horizontal path). I have no idea whether the initial white flash was anything to do with this orange sighting. Surely other people would have seen this very bright orange light too as it was clearly visible in the sky?

Bright Orangey Yellow Object Over Mickleover Derby Derbyshire UK

Date: May 22, 2010
Time: After 9:30 p.m.

Dear Sirs, I have sent one or two reports to various UFO sites this weekend following a strange sighting on Saturday evening 22 May. This is the first time in many years my husband and I have ever
seen anything out of the ordinary, and we can find no explanation for it.

We were both sitting outside on Saturday night, 22 May, in the warmth, and just after 9.30 p.m. (at Mickleover, Derby, Derbyshire), my husband said he thought there was something on fire in the sky. We watched as this bright orangey/yellow object travelled steadily upwards (almost on one of the usual flight paths) on a roughly NNW course. We rushed to get the binoculars and could see that it was not a normal plane (no flashing lights), nor a helicopter, and thought it may be a hot air balloon, but discounted this as we could see no burner, and it was too high up for a balloon.

The orangey/yellow light source(s) seemed to be from below the object, but we couldn't make out an exact shape. The light(s) seemed to be "twinkling" rather, and at one stage we thought we could see rays of light radiating out from the right hand side in a fan shape. We also thought we could distinguish a faint dark shape above the light source, almost like the shape of a tall drinks can, but it was difficult to see exactly as the object was moving fairly quickly steadily upwards at about a 45 degree angle - we would say the speed was less than that of a jet aircraft as we had time to go and fetch the binoculars from upstairs.

As we watched it made a smooth turn more to the West, probably about a 60 degree turn, ascending steadily, upwards, then it seemed to disappear, presumably into cloud, quite suddenly.

It is hard to describe the shape of the object as all we could see most of the time was this very bright light source, which could have been made up of a number of "lights", pointing downwards, it seemed. There was no noise whatsoever, and no other aircraft nearby. I did think I saw another bright orange glow near where the object disappeared, but I can't be certain as this may have been a planet or star.

I did not realize until this weekend that there have been so many sightings of orange/yellow objects as it is something neither of us have investigated until now, but it does make us question what we have seen. Hope this is useful and perhaps other people may be able to corroborate or add to what we have seen? As far as we know we can discount those Chinese lanterns as it seems impossible they could make such a controlled ascent.
